Are you interested in getting a library card? In order to be eligible for a free library card you must be either:
- A Clark County resident
- A non-resident Clark County property owner with a tax receipt
- Someone with a valid library card from a library on the Indiana Statewide Reciprocal Borrowing Covenant Libraries list*
- A Floyd County resident (due to our reciprocal borrowing agreement with the Floyd County Library, residents will be asked to present their Floyd County Library card)
If that’s you, then you can either register for a library account online now (if you are 13 or older) or come on down to the library and get your card now! If you sign up online you need to come to the library to pick up your card within 6 months of signing up. Whichever way you do it, make sure you bring some ID with you, such as:
- A valid State of Indiana driver’s license showing your current address; OR
- A valid State of Indiana identification card showing your current address

Library cards for children (under 18)
Kids are welcome to get library cards! If they are under age 18, a parent must be present and have a valid photo ID. Legal guardians must have a valid photo ID and proof of guardianship.
Computer Cards
Library users, residents, and non-residents are eligible to receive a computer card which allows you to use the library computers but doesn’t allow you to check out any materials. In order to get one of these cards you need to present a valid form of photo ID. A parent or guardian with valid photo ID needs to accompany any child under the age of 18. You can read more about the different types of computer access at the library in our Computer and Internet Use Policy.
Non-resident Cards
Library users who don’t reside in Jeffersonville Township and wish to obtain a library card are welcome to purchase a Non-Resident Card for $38 (updated in 2023). You still need to fill out a library card application and present your photo ID and proof of address, and must renew the card annually for the same $38 fee to maintain borrowing privileges.
Updating your library card
You need to bring current identification with you to update your library card. You can bring either your Indiana driver’s license or Indiana ID card if they have your current address, or you can bring one item from either of the two lists above.
